The Database Architect will expand the company’s use of data as a strategic enabler of corporate goals and objectives and is responsible for strategically designing, developing, and implementing data models for enterprise-level applications and systems across all domains. This position is within the enterprise architecture organization and partners with both business and IT stakeholders to define and execute an enterprise data strategy and architecture that supports the organizations business strategy.


Establishes procedures and standards to support productivity in systems development, availability and reliability of systems, performance of systems, and recoverability of data/databases. Serves as internal consultant to system developers with regard to data access issues and techniques. Develops and maintains documentation for databases and data elements.  Resolves database integrity and accuracy issues.  Performs database/data analysis as required.  Serves as a key member of the enterprise architecture team; helps establish systems/technology strategy. 


  • Provide leadership and guidance regarding data modeling best practices, data governance and quality practices.
  • Evaluates and assesses existing legacy data assets with an eye on modernization and simplification
  • Translate business and technical requirements into robust, secure and scalable solutions.
  • Design and build highly available and high-volume relational databases.
  • Establishes database standards and procedures to support staff productivity and system performance objectives.
  • Create design patterns and best practices for data and the integration of data through the enterprise.
  • Investigates and/or tests database product features and functionality – sets usage plans.
  • Assures backup and recoverability of databases and data – primarily MS SQL databases, but also other production data sources.
  • Collaborates with development teams to resolve database design and performance issues.
  • Conversions – coordinate tasks/schedules of external consultants and internal staff – load or convert data into our systems.
  • Monitors/manages resources to assure system availability and capacity for growth.
  • Data integrity/accuracy – establishes standards, procedures, audits, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Individual must have the ability to coordinate and prioritize. Must be able to participate in a team environment in a rapid changing environment. Flexibility, initiative and ability to work with minimal direct supervision required. Must be able to operate office equipment. Individual must be detail oriented and a self-starter with strong organizational abilities. Discretion and confidentiality a must.


Reliable, predictable attendance within client service hours for the performance of this position.

Ability to clearly communicate verbally and/or in writing both internally and externally.


Education and/or Experience  

  1. Bachelor Degree in Information Technology required.
  2. 8+ years of experience required
  3. Advanced knowledge of data management, data integration and database development technologies and processes.
  4. Advanced knowledge of database modeling and design
  5. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Replication, High Availability, Clustering and Data Warehousing.


Computer Skills    

 Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word and Excel                                                                


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

None required.

Data Management Professional Certification considered a plus
