Client Accountant Position Overview:

 

We are currently seeking a Client Accountant II to join our team. This position is responsible for the overall accounting and financial reporting functions for various client self-insured accounts and corporate accounting support as needed. A strong understanding of accounting, general ledger, and financial statements is required, and CPA certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Responsible for all duties related to the implementation and preparation of daily and monthly financial needs of the clients:

  • Monitor all bank accounts/process transfers/review and control cash flow requirements, cash receipts and disbursements and prepare bank reconciliations, if needed.
  • Monitor investment activity at minimum level and perform Investment income analysis, calculation of interest income and gain/loss of investments.
  • Invoice preparation and collection procedures including processing late charges, delinquency and cancellation notices for past due accounts.
  • Update and maintain financial data, accounting control sheets for assigned accounts, contribution receivable subsidiary ledgers.
  • Accounts payable needs for client as well as calculate, pay brokers when applicable, and maintain AP subsidiary ledgers.
  • Complete accounting checklists/internal control procedures.
  • Good understanding of all accounting systems related to this position:
  • SAGE – Financial Accounting System
  • Portman – Investment software
  • SOVOS STAT (WINGS) – Annual Statement Filling software
  • Reasonable understanding of how to research and run reports within Visions, ICE and any other required software, used by CCMSI, but not directly related to accounting.
  • Prepare journal entries and post to the general ledger, once understanding is gained.
  • Prepare financial statements, special financial reports and/or analysis as requested by clients of assigned programs.
  •  Ability to manage two (or more) clients, based on size and client requirements.
  •  Assist with the preparation of outside audits include CPA and DOI audits.
  •  Complete required regulatory quarterly and annual filings with limited supervision.
  •  Assist with compiling required data for required year-end and funding actuarial studies.
  •  Attend internal team meetings and present financial results, as requested.
  •  Attend Client board meetings and present financials and any other board required reports (monthly, quarterly, or annual, as required by client). Travel may be required.
  •  Reliable, predictable attendance within client service hours for the performance of this position.
  •  Responsive to internal and external client needs.
  •  Ability to clearly and professionally communicate verbally and/or in writing both internally and externally
  •  Ability to work as a team member in a rapidly changing environment and to get along with others.
  •  Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, while performing duties with minimal supervision.
  •  Ability to be flexible, take initiative and display a professional demeanor.
  •  Display strong attention to detail.
  •  Ability to perform job requirements with minimal supervision.
  •  Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree preferred in Accounting or Finance.  (Will consider an Associate degree with 3-5 years of experience in a related accounting field. )
  • 3-5 years of accounting work related experience required. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • CPA is preferred
