Position Summary: As a Loss Control Consultant, you’ll provide essential safety and risk management consulting for two major clients in the restaurant and municipality sectors in Massachusetts. This field role requires a blend of travel (50-60%) and remote work, with responsibilities to conduct on-site safety analysis, engage with client staff, and promote safe working environments. You’ll be an organized, self-driven professional who is comfortable conducting risk assessments and safety training sessions, while also thriving in client-facing interactions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and evaluations of client facilities, operations, and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively and cooperatively with clients to build and maintain strong partnerships.
  • Design and deliver safety and loss prevention programs, using a hands-on, engaging approach.
  • Document findings and recommendations clearly, ensuring actionable follow-through with clients.
  • Identify and mitigate workplace hazards, especially within the restaurant and municipality settings.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in loss control or safety consulting, ideally with some experience in the municipality sector.
  • Proven organizational skills with an ability to work independently in a remote field-based role.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking abilities for client presentations and safety training.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving and client engagement.

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for completing and fulfilling the expectations stated within the CCMSI Client service contracts. 
  1. Responsible for complying with the parameters outlined in the Loss Control Core Competency Manual. 
  1. Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of CCMSI’s Internet Claims Edge (iCE) system in order to monitor Client losses and conduct loss trend evaluations. 
  1. Responsible for independently scheduling and conducting service visits with CCMSI Clients to meet expectations stated in the CCMSI Client Service contracts. 
  1. Service visits will be followed up with written correspondence containing the parameters outlined within the Core Competency Loss Control Manual. 
  1. Responsible for data entry of information into the ASAP (Account Service and Planning) program.  
  1. Responsible for the completion of administrative documents outlined within the servicing instructions of particular programs and/or accounts.
  2. Responsible for appropriately saving documentation and work product, to ensure safe record retention. 
  1. Will partner with CCMSI’s Clients in inspecting and/or evaluating workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. 
  1. Identify and recommend measures to help reduce loss exposures or minimize losses. 
  1. Conducts safety training or education programs to help educate and raise levels of awareness. 
  1. Partners with CCMSI’s clients in investigating and analyzing accident trends to identify causes and potential corrective measures. 
  1. Responsible for working in conjunction with the Loss Control team and clients with the identification and implementation of additional safety resources to address exposure trends. 
  1. Contribute technical loss control information, including compliance programs and research for use by the CCMSI Loss Control Staff and Clients. 
  1. Responsible for contributing to the development of future service plans for CCMSI clients. 
  1. Responsible for providing client requested services. 
  1. Responsible for the completion of prospect/client loss control surveys. 
  1. Marketing activities, including delivering seminar and sales presentations. 
  1. Participate in Client Service team activities. 
  1. Participation with additional training and education is encouraged on a yearly basis. 
  1. Participate in the development and presentation of internal training sessions. 
  1. Participate in CCMSI Internal or Client Committees as requested. 
  1. When appointed assume Loss Control Designate functions. 
  1. Lead and develop projects to enhance services and resources for CCMSI.
  2. Responsible for using, demonstrating, CCMSI applications within the scope of services. 
  1. Report and communicate with assigned Manager, Branch Manager and Corporate Loss Control Manager. 
  1. Lead with the development of renewal contracts outlining proposed Loss Control Services. 
  1. Learn and become familiar with Corporate Loss Control Resources. 
  1. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience                                                                    

A minimum of 4 or 5 years of loss control experience, college degree in a safety curriculum, related training or related job experience is required.  

 

Computer Skills                                                               

Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Attainment of professional designations, such as the Advanced Safety Certificate, Association in Risk Management (ARM), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other designation as outlined in CCMSI’s Professional Designation program is encouraged.
