The Loss Control Consultant position works onsite for a dedicated school system containing five school districts and requires travel to various schools within each district. The ideal candidate will live in the Chicago Suburbs, preferably Northern Cook, DuPage, McHenry or Lake County for easier travel for field work. This position necessitates conducting regular safety meetings at all locations and inspecting safety incidents. OSHA experience is preferred, with the ability to conduct training upon request. A minimum of five years of loss control or risk management experience is also preferred.
The Loss Control Consultant will collaborate with insured customers at their locations to evaluate Workers' Compensation accidents, identify trends, and jointly develop a plan to reduce exposures. Responsibilities may include installing physical guards, modifying or developing safety rules, conducting safety meetings, observing safe/unsafe behavior, developing "best practices," conducting supervisor training, keeping abreast of WC and OSHA regulations, providing written safety programs, supplying safety videos, conducting seat belt surveys, and reporting results back to underwriting. Enforcement and application of these controls remain the responsibility of the insured customer.
This is a field position with minimal supervision but includes regular evaluation of effectiveness. The approximate field time for this position is 60%.

Education and/or Experience
A minimum of 4 or 5 years of loss control experience, college degree in a safety curriculum, related training or related job experience is required. Job title change is contingent upon approval of direct reporting manager and Corporate Loss Control Manager.
Computer Skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Attainment of professional designations, such as the Advanced Safety Certificate, Association in Risk Management (ARM), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other designation as outlined in CCMSI’s Professional Designation program is encouraged.
