Location: Concord, CA
Work Arrangement: In-Office Only
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Hourly Rate: $20.00/hour
Work Week: 37.5 hours

Job Summary

As a Claim Assistant, you will play a vital support role in the workers’ compensation claim process. This in-office position is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured environment, is highly dependable, and enjoys supporting a collaborative team. Under direct supervision, you’ll assist with claim setup, document handling, provider communication, and various administrative tasks that ensure claim files are accurate and up to date.

 

This role also offers exposure to claim handling processes and may serve as a stepping stone for future advancement into adjusting positions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Set up claim files and enter initial claim information accurately and promptly

  • Assist with medical-only and indemnity claims under direct supervision

  • Coordinate appointments such as Independent Medical Exams (IMEs)

  • Review and process medical bills, legal invoices, and other claim-related documents

  • Return calls to providers and support claimant or client communications

  • File, summarize, and organize correspondence, medical records, and documentation

  • Monitor and update personal task diary system to ensure timely action on open items

  • Maintain file integrity through proper documentation and adherence to claim procedures

  • Support claim representatives with clerical and administrative functions as needed

  • Comply with all corporate claim handling standards and special client requirements

Qualifications

Required:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to take direction, prioritize work, and meet deadlines

  • Reliable, predictable attendance during business hours

  • Comfort using office equipment and standard computer programs (e.g., MS Office)

Nice to Have:

  • Associate degree or 2+ years of related business experience

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Prior experience in a claims, insurance, or legal support setting

Performance Metrics

  • Accuracy and timeliness of claim file setup and documentation

  • Responsiveness to internal and external communication

  • Compliance with diary and document standards

  • Ability to meet service timelines and complete assigned tasks

The posted salary reflects CCMSI’s good-faith estimate in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws. Actual compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, geographic location, and internal equity. This role may also qualify for bonuses or additional forms of pay.
