We’re proud to be employee-owned and committed to developing your career through continuous learning and internal opportunities.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Claim Supervisor to lead a team of up to six adjusters handling California jurisdiction claims for multiple clients in the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) industry. This role ensures compliance with CCMSI’s Corporate Claim Standards, client-specific handling instructions, and California regulatory requirements.

As a key leader, you will provide oversight, mentorship, and direction on complex and litigated claims, driving performance through consistent audits and proactive supervision. Your expertise in California workers’ compensation will directly impact client satisfaction, operational quality, and adjuster development.

Important: We are seeking a seasoned Insurance Claims Supervisor with direct, hands-on experience managing and adjusting workers’ compensation claims within an insurance carrier, third-party administrator (TPA), or similar environment.  This is not a human resources or benefits role – it requires deep technical expertise in insurance claims handling and supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the investigation, evaluation, and resolution of California workers’ compensation claims in accordance with applicable laws and CCMSI best practices.

  • Review and assign claims to team members, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with client requirements.

  • Monitor adjuster caseloads for diary compliance, litigation strategy, and timely progression.

  • Provide technical guidance on California claims, including legal nuances, benefit calculations, and jurisdictional procedures.

  • Mentor and train adjusters to strengthen technical skills and promote career development.

  • Conduct claim file audits and performance reviews to ensure high-quality outcomes.

  • Approve settlements, reserves, and payments within authority levels.

  • Coordinate with outside vendors such as attorneys, case managers, and investigators as needed.

  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture aligned with CCMSI’s core values.

Qualifications

Qualifications (Required)

  • California Certification and prior experience supervising California workers’ compensation claims.

  • Minimum 10 years’ workers’ compensation claims experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.

  • Strong knowledge of California WC laws, benefits, and litigation procedures.

  • Ability to manage and mentor a remote or hybrid team effectively.

  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and claim management systems.

Nice to Have

  • Experience within the PEO industry.

  • Professional designations such as AIC, CPCU, or ARM.

Performance Metrics

  • Audit scores and compliance with Corporate Claim Standards.

  • Quality and timeliness of claim handling by supervised team members.

  • Effective oversight of diary management, litigation handling, and client satisfaction.

What We Offer

  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), and ESOP

  • Professional Development: Robust training, advancement paths, and employee ownership
