Senior Human Resources Generalist - Benefits
Location: Danville, IL | Hybrid (100% in-office for first 6 months, then 3 days in-office / 2 remote)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM CST
Salary Range: $45,000–$65,000 annually

We’re seeking a Senior HR Generalist – Benefits to join our corporate HR team in Danville, IL. This is a high-visibility, business-critical role that serves as the primary liaison for all employee benefits programs, working closely with internal executives, department leaders, and external vendors to ensure exceptional service and compliance. You’ll manage and coordinate a comprehensive suite of benefits—including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability plans; ESOP; and 401(k)—while ensuring strict adherence to all applicable federal and state regulations.
Beyond daily administration, you’ll act as a trusted advisor and problem-solver for employees at all levels, providing guidance, education, and resolution on complex benefits matters.
Administer and coordinate employee benefits including Group Health (Medical, Dental, Vision), Section 125, Life Insurance, LTD and STD, and other available benefit plans.
Manage monthly billing and eligibility reporting, (enrollments, terminations, and status changes)
Coordinate education and distribution of benefit information to new hires and follow up and completion of online enrollment forms.
Conduct annual Open Enrollment for applicable benefits.
Act as an advocate for employee and their families, providing communication, education and problem resolution for all employee benefit areas. Assist employees with life changes, annual enrollments, and coordination of benefits.
Provide education and counseling to employees on ESOP and 401k; coordinate annual 5500 for ESOP, 401k and benefit plans as well as annual financial audits.
Oversee ESOP distribution in accordance with plan documents.
Assist in the development and implementation of plan changes by review quarterly reports and market trends, and making recommendations, which would be beneficial to both employee and to the company.
Coordination of annual ACA reporting to IRS; tracking of variable hour employees for benefit eligibility.
Processes terms in HRIS system and HR use forms daily.
Development and implementation of on-line enrollment process in conjunction with HRIS Specialist.
Maintenance of employee personnel and benefit files.

Required
Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
Minimum 5 years’ HR generalist experience with at least 2 years in benefits administration.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree.
PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification.
Experience with ESOP and 401(k) administration.
Familiarity with HRIS systems management.
Accuracy and timeliness in benefits administration.
Employee satisfaction with benefits interactions.

Successful completion of annual audits and compliance requirements.
