Underwriter II - Join Our Team at CCMSI!

 

Location: Danville, IL - Hybrid schedule after initial training period (2-3 days in-office per week)
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000
Licensing: Producer’s License preferred but not required. Licenses from Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Iowa, Mississippi, or Louisiana are ideal, but any state or reciprocal license is welcome.
Education: Associate’s degree with relevant work experience or a Bachelor’s degree

The Underwriter II position is responsible for reviewing individual risks for assigned program to determine underwriting acceptability, approving, referring and rejecting risks based on authority and carrier policies, and guidelines. Also, reviews client property and casualty insurance policies in CAST for validity and data entry into policy management system (Visions).  Performs updates to policies and policyholders in policy management system, inputs First Reports of Injuries (FROI’s) for select clients, enters class codes in Vision, runs reports for renewal of policies, accuracy of information and at request of internal/external clients.  Work closely with underwriting team on various projects as needed. 

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability, quality and profitability of new and renewal business to achieve overall loss ratio objective. Refers items outside of authority to management/carrier.
  • Markets, supports and promotes program underwriting policies and objectives to agents, board and members.
  • Demonstrates commitment to team goals and objectives.
  • Provides timely, courteous and efficient service to agents, board and members.
  • Participates in available education courses and initiates and/or conducts educational sessions for underwriting, sales personnel or clients
  • Provides assistance on internal program quarterly reviews as requested.
  • Informs management of activities and problems within assigned program.
  • Performs other related duties as required or requested.
  • Data entry into Visions and/or iCE.
  • Provides all routine policy maintenance functions including, but not limited to, changes in names, addresses, terminations, addition of job codes and addition of locations for all clients.
  • Provides timely, courteous and efficient service to internal departments and clients. Should be able to communicate to carriers, brokers, information service, account managers, claim adjusters & customer service unit.
  • Review insurance policies of CCMSI clients to CCMSI system applications for accuracy i.e. CAST, Visions and iCE.

Education and/or Experience                                                                    

Four year degree (Bachelor's) + one year Underwriter or three years as Underwriter and two year degree (Associates') or one year Underwriter I and four years business experience.

Experience in other CCMSI services functions considered.  Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Organizational ability, professional manner and mathematical aptitude.  Ideal candidate must have insurance background. Presentation skills needed. Flexibility, initiative and the ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision a must.  Discretion and confidentiality required.  Ability to work as a team member in a rapidly-changing environment. 

 

 

Computer Skills                                                               

Proficient with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc. 

 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Incumbents must be working towards AU, ARM, or CPCU designations

Compensation & Compliance

The posted salary reflects CCMSI’s good-faith estimate in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws. Actual compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, geographic location, and internal equity. This role may also qualify for bonuses or additional forms of pay.
